Solo Instrumental Classes

Solo Instrumental classes will take place on Saturday 26th September 2026 at Wade Street Church, Lichfield. The adjudicators are Nancy Litten and Kathryn Page.

I1: BEGINNER INSTRUMENTAL SOLO (18 years and under) £10.50

Any solo instrument (except piano), with or without piano accompaniment. Pieces must be selected from a current ABRSM, Trinity or LCM syllabus up to and including Grade 2. This includes: Music Medals, Prep Test, Pre-Preparatory, Step 1, Step 2, Initial Grade, Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Total performance time must not exceed 3 minutes. Time to include setting up and tuning.

I10: INSTRUMENTAL CONCERTO (Open) £30.50

Own choice of any movement from a concerto; total performance time must not exceed 12 minutes. Time to include setting up and tuning.

I11: INSTRUMENTAL SOLO & DUET (NON-COMPETITIVE) (18 years and under) £13.00

Any solo instrument (except piano), with or without piano accompaniment OR instrumental duet for any combination of woodwind, brass, stringed or percussion instruments, with or without piano accompaniment.
Own choice of repertoire; total performance time must not exceed 4 minutes. Time to include setting up and tuning.

I12: INSTRUMENTAL SOLO & DUET (NON-COMPETITIVE) (18 years and over) £13.00

We also hold classes for instrumental ensemble and duet, and the syllabus for those can be found here.

Note: some classes are defined as ‘18 years and under’ and ‘18 years and over. This reflects that performers age 18 might include those still at school/college and who would therefore like to perform with those in their own age groups, and those who have left school/college. Performers are encouraged to enter whichever class they feel the most comfortable with.
